Vermintide is fun with at least one friend. The total war ones are supposed to be good too.
Darktide is, too, if you prefer WH40k to WHFantasy.
I haven't heard much about it apart from it exists. Might need to take a look if they do a free weekend like Vermintide.
It’s fun for a while but gets repetitive quickly. The banter between teammates is well written and can be funny at times.
I hope they do a spacemarine terminator version. Power fists, lightning claws, Thunderhammer storm shield, cyclone missile launchers, assault cannons, heavy bolters..
Vermintide is really awesome. I love Bardin. The banter among all the characters is great.
Boltgun is pretty cool
As is its big brother, Space Marine.
Warhammer 40k Chaosgate Demonhunters if you are into turn based strategy.
It's basically modern XCOM set in the 40k universe, with the ship management from Battletech thrown in.
Yea I really like this as a warhammer x com clone. It does end up repetitive but it's got a very visceral and grimdark feel to it.
Dawn of War and its expansions are awesome, if you don't mind playing a game from two decades ago.
"two decades ago" makes me think of the 90s, but is actually 2004. Jesus....

The Dawn of War series is decent. The campaigns and dialogue are solid. RTS gameplay isn't exactly my cup of tea, but the single player campaigns are fun enough.
Mechanicus is great. Incredible music and dialogue. Fun tactical combat. Story is kinda meh.
The Rogue Trader CRPG from Owlcat is pretty fun. Good story, roleplaying, and character building options. The tactics are fun but not quite as tight as Mechanicus.
Gladius is a pretty fun Alpha-Centauri-like.
40k: Dawn of War and the expansions are fantastic.
I couldn't get into DoW II because I couldn't keep track of all the little cool downs spread across units.
DOW II is perfect for co-op with a friend. You have much less to keep track of, and it's a good time playing through it!
The Owlcat one, Rogue Trader, is awesome.
Second this, if you like X-Com style combat this will really hit the spot. Abilities stack and are comboable in really fun ways. The only complaint is that there is a lot of text in this game, which can be tough if you're playing with friends, and six characters can be a lot to level up and equip.
I haven’t played it in a couple months, but I remember the quality and polish taking a serious nose dive as you got deeper into the game. Is that still the case?
It definitely got better, but can still be buggy. You can also pretty much guarantee there will be some bigass bugs when the new DLC comes out, it's the Owlcat way.
I'd say the actual quality doesn't take a nosedive anymore, the game is pretty consistently fun from start to finish. The beginning definitely has more going on though.

I really liked Inquisitor Martyr. It's sort of Diablo-esque. It certainly isn't amazing, but I liked the art and story and some of the gameplay. I think you can couch co-op it too.
For RTS, the original Dawn of War is excellent. Especially for the time it came out.
Chaosbane is okay but got old.
I played the first Blood Bowl like crazy on PSP.
And then Space Marine is an excellent story with great kill animations. It can be very difficult as well if you want, if you're into that.
I still play it, even though the console version was basically abandoned ages ago and we didn't even get the offline mode and seasonal journey PC players got. It's still really fun regardless and is recommend it to anyone who likes that style of game.
I loved Mechanicus. And the music is phenomenal.

Vermintide is a lot of fun. The total war Warhammer games are pretty good.
My personal favorite (as an RPG fan) is Rogue Trader (40k) by Owlcat Games. Game is superbly written and the combat and world is pretty fun too. If you hate CRPGs, stay away though. This game really showed me the secret sauce Warhammer 40k has going for it.
I'm excited as hell for space marine 2. We'll see how that goes.
I really like Space Marine. It was my introduction to the series and I even dabbled in the multiplayer which I normally never do. I tried future war hammer games and they just never clicked for me.
I recently tested Warhammer III: Total War (Don't remember the exact title), and I would consider it an objectively good game, but:
- It wasn't my kind of game, so I refunded it. I find that the Total War games for the past 10 years have involved too much repetitive drudgery on the campaign map. In my opinion, it hasn't aged well. If you like the Total War games, this might be for you, though.
- Expensive business model built around DLCs. Do you like Chaos Dwarves? Be prepared to pay extra.
As a whole I wouldn't advice against this game, as it is beautiful and well done. But the above two points need to be taken into account.
As someone who enjoys TW style games TW:WH is absolutely excellent and a wonderful time.
While the DLCs are expensive the base game has a good chunk of content already and you don't really need to pick up the extras to get hundreds of hours out of it. It's very much a situation where you should only grab things as they interest you or splurge during a massive sale.

The 3rd person warhammer game from the Xbox 360 was pretty good. The first person space hulk is fun if you get it for under $10

Additionally I really enjoyed Battlesector, cleaning up Baal after the Tyranids have been repelled.
I liked Space Hulk: Deathwing. Not sure what the general Warhammer 40k perception is on the game, but its a pretty fun coop shooter that has exactly what I was looking for. Plus its usually on sale on Steam.
Now, I am not a Warhammer superfan. I don't know any lore except that pretty much everyone commits literal warcrimes on an hourly basis and everything is incredibly aggressive. I know some stuff like the Ultra Marines and a little about humans in the time, but I would say I am so on the outside of the fandom I must look like a casual to a casual Warhammer enjoyer. Maybes that's why I liked it, who knows?
Sanctus Reach is something I poured a lot of hours in. It's a classic tabletop-like turn-based game where you pick units for a set number of points.
Total War:Warhammer series has taken up a lot of my time. I suggest Modding it to suit your play style and desired level of challenge.
Darktide, and vermintide, as others have mentioned if you prefer action to turn based.
Dawn of War series are all good games. The second one in coop mode is excellent.
Spacemarine is an instant classic.
I'd skip Gladius. It's good, it's fine. Its a cheap copy of better games with a warhammer skin over it.
I want to second the Total War series. 2 is my favorite, 3 was great but unplayable on my pc sadly.
Very very easy to get into, im not the biggest Warhammer fan but fuck me, Total War is a massive scale Civ and I love it.
The Space Hulk remake (not Deathwing) is worth a look. It was a faithful modern take on a game I played 30 years ago.

I just finished dawn of war soulstorm but with Chaos. Planning to play again with sister of battles. I bought it on steam sale a few week ago. I lost count on how many times i play the game. The only dawn of war game i have ever play.
Speed Freeks is extremely underrated. Multiplayer only. It plays like Unreal Tournament x Twisted Metal.
Not Warhammer per se, but perhaps the Peacescrewdriver series has better games
There are many good games in the 40k universe. There are a few bad ones, and there are a couple great ones. If you pick a genre you like there is probably a 40k game that is a 7-8/10 in that genre.
