The pictures provide a, er, sobering reminder of how much damage one person can do with a car, yet we just let those things on our city streets somehow.

Did you read the article? He woke up and purposely drove into the officers vehicles. This wasn't an accident.

Being drunk and getting behind the wheel is not an accident. They chose to become drunk. They chose to get into their vehicle.

This is similar to calling theft an accident just because you got caught.

I'd say it was more like seeing the cops come during the robbery, firing a few rounds off in their direction while trying to run away, and then having them charge you for handling a weapon while intoxicated.

They aren't wrong, but seems like a few charges are missing.

No, we really do need to make some allowance for normal human reactions. They said he was asleep so they boxed him in, then he woke up and shit happened. Depending on the details, this could be a normal panic response, not intentional
