It is really sad that Patrick Breyer will no longer be part of the European Parliament. His work was very important. I can also really recommend the 37C3 video!

I just found that the 16 largest Ships emit as much as all cars. Did not check the source further.

But that really depends on how you measure and define pollution. As others have pointed out container ships are still pretty efficient. But of course they should get better too. Like everything!

As I have said, I did not fact check it further because it is quite late here. Just wanted to give information to that claim and please correct your statement (:

Same here, every time I was driving train at night in germany. I rarely was in a sleeper train and if I was. Only in the normal seating compartments. They are just way to expensive. I sometimes look for fun what a flight would cost. And mostly its more than the half...

And don't get me started with train driving to other European countries

That is correct. It would need a lot of change in the US. But I can say in Europe it works pretty well.

Mixed Zoning and less suburbs are just two of the changes that would make a lot of lifes a lot better!

Then be against surveillance in general... Its also a big problem. Not only a problem of 15 Minute cities. Cameras can also track your car quite easliy. Through the whole city.

All I need is less than 10 minutes away and I rarely need to go further for anything. And I love it. Not car dependend and no surveillance here.

Ah probably germany, even at night. No cars driving, waiting at a red light.

I am one of the poorer people in Germany, so at the very lower end. I am still pretty happy to be here because my lifestyle is quite better than in most of the other world. But I don't see where I could make any bigger changes anymore.

  • I don't drive (Fuck Cars!)
  • I do not fly
  • I eat near to none meat
  • When I travel, I travel only inside Germany with trains
  • I try to work in a field that helps the public transportation

And so on. I understand the point you are trying to make. But for me it seems like the good old, you as a person are a problem! Not the industry, the policy makers and the fucking rich people with private planes.

Don't get me wrong here, I still see how entitled I am and that I can still change some small things... But sadly, that won't save the world

Yeah you are right, its my first time being moderator for such a big community. I just wan't to make the thought process behind my/our decisions more clear for everyone and I think that would not hurt. But thanks for your feedback! I really appreciate it

[-] ConfidentLonely@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I fully agree on what you say!

The job possibility part is exactly what may benefit me soon, I applied for a job at DB because I wanted to do something that benefits the public transport system.

Of course, I am pretty happy that at least one person had some questions so far. Its in our all interest to make such questions a community thing (:

As you say, it is nearly impossible to write things, so that no one feels attacked by it. The goal is just to make obvious attacks against specific people against the rules. If someone feels attacked by unbiased facts, then its his problem. Because it would make it nearly impossible to make any discussions. So I would say we act by the unbiased fact.

Okay I will try to give a bit more insight and it seems that we should add some explanations to the rules.

  • You don't have to agree with everyone. Disagreements are a fundemental part of a community and its important that we can discuss about things. Of course the fuck word is still allowed. In my opinion at least in the context of this community. I meant its in the name.
  • That is a really hard thing to differenciate for me currently. And I am working on it. But nontheless I would say that you can make a point, probably a far better one if you do not attack the person directly. You can attack the believes or the things that they write but not the person behind that. If you think someone else is going to far and you feel the need to get onto an personal level, you won't win anything.
  • The line is also not easy, I understand what you mean. It was meant by me in a more general sense to like what I wrote in the point above. We should all be able to make our points and discredit other things without being dicks to other people.
  • Could rename that clearer. Crossposts are completly okay so far. I wrote that in because we had sometimes, but not very often the case several people posted the same video in a short time. Its just there that we can make an easier call on that and delete things that are double. So probably no reposts?

Thank you very much for your input and I hope I could make my thought process a bit clearer

As we have seen a rise of toxic behavior we have decided that it would be time for some rules. We would love other ideas too and feel free to discuss it here.

Also we are thinking about, to put in an Automoderation tool that could help us a lot. Because its currently not easy for us to scan every new comments and reports are rare currently. We want your opinons on that too, because its important to us that this community is based on the people here.

The shortlist that we have currently as idea for the Rules:

  • Be Kind to each other
  • No Hate speech
  • Dont harass people
  • No Racism, sexism and any other discrimination
  • Dont attack other people just because they have differnt opinions (Stay on Topic)
  • Do not double post

I would love to see it in more cities/countries, because I use it very often. I don't have the money to buy one for myself so the best that happend was that the city decided a few years ago to make stations where you can rent these bikes for a short shopping trip or to some nice place. They aren't even really expensive too.

In the absence of a flair system on lemmy yet, let's try to make it easier to scan through posts by type in here by using tags:

  • [meta] for discussions/suggestions about this community itself
  • [article] for news articles
  • [blog] for any blog-style content
  • [video] for video resources
  • [academic] for academic studies and sources
  • [discussion] for text post questions, rants, and/or discussions
  • [meme] for memes
  • [image] for any non-meme images
  • [misc] for anything that doesn't fall cleanly into any of the other categories

I have copied that idea from another community. I forgot which one so sorry!

Feel free to discuss that here, I would like that change because it makes it a lot easier
