u/LeninMeowMeow moderates a large amount of big subreddits, r/therightcantmeme, r/gamingcirclejerk, r/animememes, r/greenandpleasent (a known russian propaganda subreddit source: Center for European Policy Analysis (think Lemmygrad)) and much more.

Anyways on r/lemmy, he says that lemmy.world is right-wing and thatcherite. I reply that it is more social democratic.

I instantly get banned from the subreddits he moderates and blocked by him. I have not commented or participated in any of their subreddits before, and this is my first ever encounter with them.

Weird and concerning behaviour. I fear that tankies are taking over most left wing spaces on reddit (not that I really use reddit for politics anymore, that’s why I’m on lemmy, but for the implications to our democracies, as a non-negligible chunk of voters are politically influenced by reddit).

I'm so confused, is this a new thing?? I was looking for German People's experiences with Narcolepsy and Google suggested a Reddit thread about athletes with Narcolepsy. It was in German, so I just assumed it was a German author, but it quickly became weird when the author said "you" instead of "y'all" and mentioned upping his running miles every week.

I checked at the top any yep, there was a little "See Original" button that translated the post to English.

Am I alone in thinking that this is kinda weird and icky? Like this are people speaking about their personal experiences, just pulling their words through automatic translation can kill so much meaning and context. Not even to mention that it makes the search engine result useless for me, as I was specifically looking for German posts :/

Reddit just wrapped up its second earnings call as a public company and CEO Steve Huffman hinted at some significant changes that could be coming to the platform.

Some subreddits change their CSS in annoying ways, even hiding the "Use subreddit style" toggle that RES provides.

The fix that worked for me:

  • type . to bring up a RES command window
  • enter srstyle off

Hopefully that helps when you need to use old.reddit for something, at least until it stops working for good

It's unbelievable how vocal the minority of conservatives on reddit have suddenly gotten in the one sub where a large demographic of important voters often interact. Hmmm. Coincidence?

Some of the new Reddit mods are so toxic. Instead of apologizing for the bot being too harsh and reinstating my submission, they just banned me because I dared to ask what exactly I didn't "punctuate correctly".

I Need Help (lemmy.dbzer0.com)
submitted 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) by Simon@lemmy.dbzer0.com to c/reddit@lemmy.world

I've been using reddit for over a decade and there's a few subreddits I've been banned from (/r/news, /r/crazyfuckingvideos, etc). Unfortunately, I keep forgetting when I'm browsing. If I accidentally comment in one of those my current account gets banned for ban evasion. Is there a browser extension that can block participation in certain communities but still allow you to see content? I can't keep having my current reddit accounts permenantly banned like this and then lose all my subscriptions and preferences and friends etc. This has happened twice already.

Please help.

Well, i created account for privacy concerns as i don't want to link some reddit activity to my main account, which is my online identity (fb, yt, ...)

Look like they know i am multi and they ban multi, assuming it is spam.

I am using the alt as usual, comment here and there, nice and civil words.Sometime i post questions need to be ask, for example, game community, asking for advice, guide, etc.

Being shadowbanned also deleted all my previous and further contents.

Appeal doesn't work, nobody answering.

That it I gave up.

I just created a community to see what reddit offer for mod.

And I see they use blackbox rule to "guess" if user is break a rule, or if user is ban evasion, ...

And they give you two options without any measurements, that is "low" and "high" confidence.

Now they are obsessed with AI. Opposite voice might be automatically labelled as breaking the rule.

The problem is that their blackbox doesn't work very well.

New account (of newly join user, or for privacy concerns) might be censor due to reputation filter.

It's been a long time since I've been ban from Reddit in May so it's been over a month. Could it be possible that they just forget who you are. I found one post talking about getting permanently ban that was 5 months old on an account still active. What ways could I get around a Reddit ban? Probably like use an email that doesn't use my name I guess and don't be too obvious. But yeah Reddit has permanently ban me and I've basically tried everything I could with other accounts. So there does seem to be a way around the Reddit ban and it seems like partly luck and making sure Reddit doesn't remember you.
