Sleep deprivation can cause hallucinations.

Or is it actually hallucinations...

[-] garbagebagel@lemmy.world 26 points 10 months ago

I watched this great documentary that proved that sleep deprivation actually just turns you into Brad Pitt out to destroy capitalism.

[-] Sanyanov@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

And I'm VERY sleep deprived.

FYI: you can't kill a baby through keeping them awake. An adult you can kill this way.

[-] bstix@feddit.dk 14 points 10 months ago

...and you know this because..?

[-] Froyn@kbin.social 8 points 10 months ago

Neuroplasticity. The infant will attempt to adapt to the surroundings, the adult is "stuck in their ways".

[-] deus@lemmy.world 26 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

What if you keep a baby awake until it becomes an adult?

[-] Froyn@kbin.social 10 points 10 months ago

The parents were anti-vax so...

[-] garbagebagel@lemmy.world 15 points 10 months ago

Well I didn't want children but now I got some experimenting to do.

[-] MightyGalhupo@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago

Meet me out back in 15 minutes, I have stolen a child for you

[-] RobertoOberto@sh.itjust.works 10 points 10 months ago

...I have stolen a child for you

Aw, shucks. I thought you were about to suggest a dumpster-side quickie to make one.

[-] MightyGalhupo@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago

I would’ve made that joke if I knew their gender, because no amount of fucking between two guys would make a child

[-] Lemminary@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

I doesn't matter, we will keep trying until we conceive, Mighty!

[-] MightyGalhupo@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

Ok sure, as long as I get to not pay child support

[-] GortexGary@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Isn't the definition of neuroplasticity that the brain will change?

Edit: I guess more "the brain can change." Still, adult's have Neuroplasticity. That is very well documented.

[-] Sibbo@sopuli.xyz 7 points 10 months ago

Doctor told me.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 12 points 10 months ago

Not with that attitude.

[-] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 18 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

I can attest to the fact that if you stay awake for 3 days IRL, phantoms do indeed come to torment you until you sleep.

[-] evranch@lemmy.ca 15 points 10 months ago

You want the real sleepless experience, forget about Minecraft, go for broke and stay up all night in Don't Starve

[-] JakenVeina@lemm.ee 8 points 10 months ago

Yeah, but like, holy crap, there's a way to make phantoms not spawn?! TIL

[-] RandomVideos@programming.dev 6 points 10 months ago

Phantoms spawn after 1 hour of not dying or sleeping if there is no nontransparent block above you, so you just have to die or sleep every hour or make a roof above the entire world

[-] hakunawazo@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

/gamerule doInsomnia false ftw

[-] PoolloverNathan@programming.dev 2 points 10 months ago

Phantoms only spawn when there are no blocks above your head.

[-] Jumuta@sh.itjust.works 8 points 10 months ago

going 3 days without shitting lmao
