For $30 (<$20 if you know where to look) EarPods are actually a good value unlike like the older style iPod earbuds. They aren't replacing my IEMs any time soon, but I paid 4x as much for those.

Do they have ANC, an 8hr battery life, and touch controls? If so, I suppose I would consider them.

Edit: I see, AirPods are Bluetooth, EarPods are wired.

They have infinite battery life because they are wired.

Though I would love to see where you are finding wireless earbuds with ANC, 8 hour battery, and touch controls for $30.

Easier to to keep them water resistant/dustproof, for one.

On earbuds, there's no much space for a button. Responding to just taps on the bud feels intuitive and works well.

If you have a wire, controller on the wire makes more sense.

These are wired earbuds, not bluetooth.
