Go the DIY route, try putting it in rice.

Glad I held back from suggesting Firefish for my wife. I've been slowly trying to convince her to jump to the fediverse for microblogging and figured to have her try Firefish simply because it's prettier than Mastodon. Guess it's back to ol' Mastodon.

The trick is being able to eat the same meal for the entire day. Cook once and eat it throughout the day. lol

Go to eventbrite or meetup and check out all the free events in your area that are interesting to you, then just show up.

The only barrier to entry is creating a usb installer. Once you’re past that, there’s nothing more than basic computer knowledge to do what you need to do. By basic, I mean knowing how to use a computer, so you should be good. Just choose a user friendly distro like Mint and you won’t need to open the terminal at all unless something really bad happens.

My condolences to the people who have to install it to write an article about it.

FWIW, this was debunked when CMG originally made the claim. It was a marketing guy overselling their product and they had to correct their statement. They use the same info data brokers collect, and phones actively listening to you is not true.

If you fart and sneeze at the same time, your body takes a screenshot.

Not directed at you specifically, but it’s the same with IT and dev people but with security/privacy.

There are plastic containers similar to box tissue but are round with a hole in the middle of the lid. Then you pull the toilet paper from the center of the roll.

My city's limits covers one county and half of the county north of it. Why don't they just follow the same lines on the map, with either the county following the city, or the city following the county line?

On a hot day and traveling in a car, which method of keeping the occupants comfortable with the A/C is more energy and fuel efficient?

  • Set the thermostat to a lower temperature and keep fan speed to the lowest setting

  • Set the thermostat to a slightly higher temperature and compensate by setting the fan to a higher speed so you can feel cool enough with the breeze

Did anything happen to those bots over the past week? I’m subscribed to some communities that have them posting stuff regularly. I just noticed a drop in content on my feed yesterday and realized I haven’t seen posts from those bots the past few days.

I don't see a discussion thread for the recently concluded Attack on Titan anime series, so here it is. Mods, feel free to delete if inappropriate.

Narwhal released v2 of their app today to the general public. As a loyal narwhal user before I moved to lemmy, I still had the app on my phone so I checked it out.

The app now shows your api usage so you know how much you’ll need to pay based on your average browsing habits. It’s making users uncomfortable because they can’t browse carefree knowing the counter goes up every time they do something in the app.

Such a shame because the new app version is beautiful, but look at what reddit is forcing app devs to do just so their app can live on.

We have a 12 and 14 ProMax and I noticed the new color scheme change on the 12. For example, the yellow to red-orange change on the calculator buttons, and the blue to dark-blue change on the wifi/data/BT/airplane buttons in control center. However, it didn't change on the 14. Anyone know if there's a setting somewhere to change this?

I was an avid single player gamer a long long time ago (15+ years) and the recent Quake II remaster sparked the nostalgia in me and now I want start playing all my favorite classic games (StarCraft, Diablo II, Quake 2 and 3, Battlefield 2, etc.) again.

The problem is I mostly have old hardware. My old HP laptop running Arch just died recently and my old MSI laptop running Mint that I use as a media player connected to my tv is too slow to run games properly.

So I was thinking of buying one of those mini PCs or compact desktops that run around $200-$250 to dual boot Windows (don’t wanna waste the free license if it comes with it) and Linux and use it as a gaming machine. I’m so behind with pc specs nowadays so I wanted to ask the community for recommendations. I’ll be playing mostly the classic games above and their remastered versions so I don’t really need a top of the line machine, just something decent that isn’t too far behind and can still run some current games if I ever find anything new interesting.

Any suggestions please? Thanks!
