You're thinking of audit logs, few systems are critical enough to warrant that, no system mentioned in the story would typically have audit logs unless we're talking in the military or similar.

Should've been Sean Connery and not Daniel Craig bond in the pic! Missed opportunity.

No that's Platinum and also new but the $500 USD per month one is called VIP and also you need to be invited/selected to even be able to get it, which of course is just a ploy to get the selected to feel special and buy it to flaunt that they got invited.

Perfect, that justifies the price then since we're talking about a luxury product.

Just raise the damn horses in Japan. Why do they consistently insist on doing it the worst way?

You could do the free wifi defense and set a super poor password and spend a month or so downloading legal stuff without a VPN before going arr using a VPN. And if someone comes knocking just say you don't recall having a debrid account and claim you must've been hacked.

I really hope the people signing up for the human trials are well informed. While I think implants like Neuralink are going to revolutionize treatment for all kinds of paralysis Musk has a track record of giving absolutely no fucks about safety or regulations unless forced to.

It was great starting out but I feel it jumped the shark in a way that made it just, bland and meh. It worked when it initially was a bit more Sci than Fi, but later it upped the drama aspects and went all in on Fi with some handwavy Sci mumbo and it just lost me.

I'd go with ZFS because balancing between the included disk in a Ceph pool will consume I/O and especially if one disk fails, that rebuild would take days if not weeks. If you want to try Ceph then don't include all the 8 drives initially and see how the performance is with the minimum 3 drives.

8 drives over USB 3.0 won't perform well, though a single SATA connection isn't without issues either. That cable will be the I/O limiter in an uncommon fashion. I'd go for the eSATA converter option but neither is ideal. A big question is how will the drives be seen by Proxmox? If it's as one big drive that means you're SOL for safe storage options, if so I wouldn't store anything you don't want to lose on there and just make a ZFS storage pool of it in Proxmox.

As for plans I would down the line look at Ceph because it does really well with cheap hardware. No need for a competent RAID controller etc.

The headline makes it sound like they bravely sold the drugs themselves and outcompeted the gangs on their turf... And then you read it and that's exactly what they did, a sensational but accurate headline, someone got a boner from writing that for sure. Reducing deaths from bad drugs is a noble goal but it's a really tricky area and rife for abuse so I hope they can stay on the "straight and narrow" even if they did take a bit of a novel route.

You paid $0 for the USB SSD? Hehe, just messing with you, welcome to the fun side and I'm sure there will be a lot more updates to your setup over the years! Once you tire of manually hunting torrents you can setup the famous Arr! Stack and if you trust your family they can get login to Radarr and Sonarr such that they can themselves pick out content they want available. And if you want to focus more on the tech and possibilities of self-hosting there are great communities for that as well!
