Any one remember that year at Google IO when Larry Page stepped on stage, looking at everyone and then just started yelling "IT'S BEAMIN' TIME" and then beamed all over the crowd?

If they etched the symbol they could have reduced the weight of the laptop by 0.003g making it even better

I've been experimenting with different pasta sauces the past two weeks and wanted to share my progress.

There are many articles/videos that review and rank popular US canned tomato brands/types. Unfortunately, I'm in Canada so we don't get a lot of the popular US tomato brands here. So I decided to try and pick a favorite canned tomato myself. I think I've finally settled on a recipe and canned tomato after eating a ton of pasta.

Not sure if the quality of this dish fits this sub but it tasted amazing to me.

Cancer cells are cells that keep growing even when they are told to stop. They continue to grow even when they are a detriment to the body. They consume a large amount of resources and they have no regard for the future even though their unsustainable growth will always lead to the death of their host and to themselves.

Humans have a lot of these similarities. Nature has a lot of mechanisms to prevent the unbounded growth of any population either through finite resources (ie. Carnivores die when they are too numerous because they will run out of prey to hunt) or disease and crazy fungi that spread much easier when there is over population. Humans pretty much learned to circumvent these mechanisms, leading to essentially unbounded growth. Humans over consume resources and we don't stop even when we learn of our over consumption. And despite learning that our way will lead to either mass deaths or extinction we do almost nothing and keep going.

New Firefox user here. I like to keep a few tabs pinned. Two of the tabs is the same site but different accounts, so the tabs have the same exact icon. Is there a way to differentiate between the tabs somehow on Firefox?

I have some automated pet stuff in my house. There were 2 power outages 2 days in a row. After each one, the pet electronics refused to turn back on even if I unpluged and replugged the power brick from the wall outlet side. They would only turn on if I unplugged the power brick on the electronics side and plugged it back in.

This is kind of a pain because of the cat stuff we own is a litter robot and where it's placed is really tight. It's a huge hassle to access the back side of it to unplug the power brick.

So my question is, why does this happen and are there any workarounds so I don't need to unplug the power brick when it happens?

Summit - A Lemmy reader (play.google.com)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by idunnololz@lemmy.world to c/android@lemmy.world

Hello! I recently just released a Lemmy reader app for open beta. I've been working on the app since the black out about a week ago.

The app is will very much a work in progress however the core reader functionality should be working. I will continue to work on the app and estimate it will likely like a month before all core features will be implemented.

That being said, I've been having a lot of trouble browsing Lemmy on web and I still think the app is an upgrade over the raw web experience.

If anyone is interested please give the app a try and let me know what you think!

Here's a quick demo as well: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/MMpMHwzTuII
