I know what you mean. A lot of Disney+ shows have felt like they had two 90min movies worth of content that they padded so they could hit six 1 hour episodes. I'm totally on board with the idea of some lesser-tier stories from the MCU skipping a theatrical release and going straight to D+ but they're obsessed with turning a movie's worth of ideas into a tv series just so they can claim to have a bigger catalog of original shows. The end result is painfully boring shows that are a chore to get through.

Yeah, going the live action route is a bit of a head-scratcher. Between two seasons of "Marvel's What If...?" with third on the way and the upcoming X-Men '97 revival Disney clearly hasn't shied away from animated shows aimed at older audiences. So I'm not sure why Gargoyles, of all things, would be getting the live action treatment.

I'd say, 'your employees have options. They're not resources to control,'" Houston told Fortune when asked about what message he had for CEOs who believed in return-to-office mandates.

"You need a different social contract and to let go of control. But if you trust people and treat them like adults, they'll behave like adults. Trust over surveillance," he added.

But but but you can’t just treat the servants like people who are capable of completing their responsibilities while managing their own time! What if they finish their work early or take an extra ten minutes at lunch?! Sweet lord, what if they aren’t jiggling their mouse enough??!! Time theft is the most heinous crime in human history!!!1!

Oh wow, I had never heard that about the production of the Generations movie before but that's a really fucked up thing to do. Particularly because Whoopi Goldberg was at the height of her fame during ST:TNG's TV run. She was only on that show because she loved Star Trek. Frankly, at that point in her career she was easily "above" being on a basic cable syndicated TV series.

I only remember her work as an actor because she played the mom on Step by Step which was a Brady Bunch knock-off on the TGIF lineup in the '90s. But I do know she had a lot of pseudo-scientific views on health and nutrition and was fairly public about them... And at her worst, she even went so far as to suggest in 2013 that the Sandy Hook shooting was the result of the perpetrator's "toxic" diet and being exposed to common household cleaners. Suffice to say, I don't think she was a very reasonable person. So I'm just gonna file this away as "TV mom from my youth dies."

Hulu's No One Will Save You (2023). Edit: It's on Disney+Star for those outside of the US

I thought it was very good. While it's only 90 minutes long it lacks dialogue, so I was concerned it might end up feeling a bit slow. Fortunately, I could not have been more wrong. It managed to move along at an impressively brisk pace. I gave it a shot because Stephen King compared it to one of my favorite episodes from the OG Twilight Zone called "The Invaders" (s02e15) and I think he was spot on. The movie clearly owes a lot to that episode without being derivative at all.

So if anyone's looking for a good horror/scifi flick this Halloween I'd highly recommend No One Will Save You. And while you're at it, make it a double feature by ending the night with The Invaders from the original Twilight Zone. It's the perfect double feature and would only take about 2 hours.

I'm not "crying" for any corporations. I'm laughing at that jackass for their asinine rationalization for shoplifting. If you don't understand the difference, I don't know what to tell you.

I tried to pay, fuck you I don’t have time for this.

Lol, uh huh. Whatever you gotta tell yourself to justify stealing that bag of doritos, dude.

I love it when a movie about hackers shows that the good guys get around town on rollerblades whereas the bad guy rides a skateboard. That way the audience clearly understands that he’s evil.

Unfortunately it’s only been done once, in the 1995 classic film “Hackers.”
