I would guess it would be instance to instance basis and will most likely have to be 100% transparent with what it's doing.

So like I said, if people don't like what they add, we just won't add it. Why should we bend over backwards, also EEE is a Microsoft thing more than anything. It won't kill decentralisation it would just prove that companies like that are shit.

It's why I moved over to Kbin / Mbin lol

[-] SamXavia@kbin.run 11 points 8 months ago

I'm glad I have slowly moved away from Reddit, hope we get some sort of Fedi recap stuff in the future as is a really cool idea but glad we don't get forced to use Apps and stuff.

[-] SamXavia@kbin.run 5 points 8 months ago

So how would they take PixelFed, Mastodon, Lemmy & Kbin / Mbin? They can only try add a feature and if the rest of the Fediverse doesn't like it, they won't add it to there own platforms,

[-] SamXavia@kbin.run 8 points 8 months ago

Yeah and I'm not going to stop using my instance I love it to much, Maybe I will boot up my own personal one if anything. Just glad more people will hopefully understand and can use the Fediverse

[-] SamXavia@kbin.run 3 points 8 months ago

Less of a public figure than Zuck I was meant to say. I really do hope they have a goodish intent and I'm sure the Fediverse will keep on going with or without META, just really hope to see more of a general audience join us on the Fediverse

[-] SamXavia@kbin.run 1 points 8 months ago

@Zak@lemmy.world It would make sense for him to be but I guess it might be easier to use accounts that are not so much public knowledge like @mosseri@threads.net rather than the head of META themselves. Really hope if it goes well they will possibly even think about doing the same with there other platforms.

@Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world @zuck@threads.net @strahlemann@feddit.de

[-] SamXavia@kbin.run 1 points 8 months ago

Yes if certain instances don't like Threads they can de-federate from it, and I'm sure a few will, Personally I think it should be down to user choice as the users on Threads aren't to bad it's the company that is.

[-] SamXavia@kbin.run 1 points 8 months ago

The problem is there's only so far that the general userbase will grow without the fall off big tech, the only one that is close to falling is X formally Twitter and I don't think most people want those sorts of people on here, not yet at least.

Sure you might be right in the way of the Fediverse growing but either way big tech is goanna want to join the Fediverse sooner or later, we might as well try and get as many users to jump the Big Tech ship and move to these platforms.

[-] SamXavia@kbin.run 4 points 8 months ago

I think it's a possible change, It will bring a lot of newer people that rather haven't researched or want to move away from 'main stream' platforms to be able to come to the Fediverse and could be really possible for the amount of people being able to interact in general across both platforms.

It would also allow me to move away from Threads and stick to one account for most of the Fediverse based Social Media usage, and I really hope other Social Media's follow in METAs steps.

As we've had the latest Chapter 5 stuff we received 3 new games that are here to stay including Lego Fortnite (Allow you to purchase Lego versions of characters), Rocket Racing (Using Rocket League Vehicles) & Fortnite Festival (created by the original devs of Rock Band).

Do you think we could see more game developers trying to release there games connected to Fortnite especially if Epic Games starts making a way for Indie / lower end developers to earn money from releasing games & experiences on the platform?

If you where to try and explain the Fediverse to someone, how would you explain it with it's different instances? As well as explain why it is better in some ways for the future of the Internet?

There are some people won't touch anything to do with open source projects as they feel it might have issues with security. What does open source actually do for security or change how it works?

Yes I am a gamer, no I don't want to use the Laptop for gaming.

The Laptop in question is the 'Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 Gen 7', I can't out right purchase it outright as any device is way to pricy for me. So it would be an monthly payment through 2 years.

Why do I want the Laptop?
I've been pushing myself to edit videos and have got to the stage that I have registered a company that I'll be doing this under. Sure my PC would do the ok job, it runs the programs I need such as Premiere Pro but I feel a more portable set up might be needed in the future for as my partner wants to go away to so many places in the future, the ability to move rooms in the house when I feel I no longer can work in the room such as my office to the sitting room as well as if it comes to it I can use the laptop for more 'high-end' gaming on the go in my spare time.

Why this Laptop?
Well I saw it on my phone providers website as I was checking when my current laptop is due to finish it's cycle (The laptop I have currently only have 4GB of ram and can barely open the internet) also it cost like ~£40 a month.

How much would I be paying?
The cost on the website is £42 a month with £10 upfront cost.

This does come with a 'bonus' of 2 year subscriptions of Microsoft Office 365 and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

I seem to have a problem with moderating myself when it comes to playtime on Video Games, How do you keep yourself from just endlessly playing games?

So when I joined Kbin I knew I loved the merge of Microblogs and Threads allowing users to use two parts of the Fediverse at the same time. There are little parts of the Fediverse that I haven't seen added yet and wonder if there are possible plans for it.

Such as Videos, I know there's PeerTube but are there plans for even making a section to just watch, comment and like PeerTube videos?

It would be really cool to see a all in one platform for all your Fediverse needs but it seems like Kbin is just a merge between two sections at the moment.

So I have been using the Fediverse for some time, Started with Mastodon and Lemmy then moved to Kbin for a mix of both as well as features and have finally ended up on Mbin for the Bug Fixes.

A problem that I have come across is that gaming seems to mostly be in one sub such as this one instead of spreading across multiple subs like one for Terraia, Euro Truck Simulator and Hitman.

I find these gaming subs very broad compared to the more centred one-game / franchise subs. Does anyone else feel the same way?
