"The two Iranian officials said the weapon had struck an S-300 antiaircraft system at a military base in the nearby province of Isfahan. The officials’ account is supported by satellite imagery analyzed by The New York Times, which showed damage to the radar of an S-300 system at the Eighth Shekari Air Base in Isfahan."

And this is why Iran does most of their military action through terrorist proxies in the Middle East. In direct confrontations they loose, even when they fire disproportionally more munitions than their enemy.

But it did go over Iraqi airspace. Why does that not matter?

I think the political situation with Jordan is a bit more complicated than with Iraq. Jordan and Israel have a peace treaty, but are definitely not allies. At least that's my understanding.

Because Jordan had an active role in shooting down Iranian drones and missiles while Iraq did not.

Because Iraq, by not preventing Iranian military action in their airspace implicitly has made it part of the war zone - same way Lebanon & Syria allowing Hezbollah to use their territories for military action has made their territories part of the war zone.

If we ever nuke China or Russia, do you think we're worried about the airspace we're using?

I get it as a principled point, but I think you're missing what's happening here. And deniability and/or inability to knock the missile down... It flies.

I'm pretty sure it's because Iraq was already completely destroyed by America and they have no fucking defenses at all to do anything to Israel even if they wanted to
