I had a hell of a time trying to figure out how to word the title. What I mean is something that changed in your life for the better and you immediately started underappreciating it.

I got laser eye surgery a couple years ago and immediately got used to it and didn't think about all the minor inconveniences that came with having glasses.

Similarly I bought a curved computer monitor because it seemed neat and after a couple hours it feels so insignificant I stopped really "feeling" anything.

Bidet.

Whenever I have to poop without one my butt hole dies a little.

The "raise" I got that meant I wasn't living paycheck to paycheck but it turns out healthy food is expensive

[-] mrbaby@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago

Get raise, everything gets more expensive, rent goes up, back to paycheck to paycheck, repeat until death

[-] 200ok@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago

Yep, a "cost of living" raise is not a "raise". I'm just making the same amount in today's dollars.

By the time you got the reasise that money has been inflated ie economic value is extracted hence why most people will always live paycheck to paycheck. The system works great for it wss designed for.

Asking for raise is a symbolic gesture since you got switch jobs to a raise. But it is has important valuez making management waste time tell you no while feeling "uncomfortable"

Second monitor and huge mousepad

[-] CanadianCabbage@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 month ago

The additional monitor is a game changer. I feel like I don't take it for granted because of how often I see single monitor setups in the wild

Controlled temperature seats in the car. My first car didn't have anything like that, so I never really thought about needing it. But then I got my second car which had heated seats, and when winter came, oh man, I finally understood the appeal. And then summer came and I had to borrow my parents' car for a week, and it also has cooling seats... They are fantastic.

On that same note, Bluetooth in the car. Going by aux isn't bad, but it is less cords I have to fumble around with when I first get in. That being said, I still carry a couple backup CDs just in case, lol.

Oh, for me it's the opposite way. I've never had problems with AUX, the cable was always there in the car and I also used to always carry one with me.

When cars started having bluetooth, the aux port disappeared, and I never managed to have the same experience of just "connect and go". Sometimes headphones take over your bluetooth mid drive because the lid opened accidentally, sometimes it disconnects for no reason at all. If someone has google auto connected, nobody else can connect the bluetooth to play their music. And it drains battery way faster than AUX.

I wish cars included both options, but for some reason they completely forgot about the AUX.

I've never tried the controlled temperature seats though, I'll have to try those. The idea certainly sounds good.

Cars forgot about it and phones have as well now unfortunately.

Remote starter for me. Never have to sit in a freezing car for 5+ minutes waiting for it to warm up.

I can handle shitty graphics, it's the framerates that really mess with me.

I sometimes forget that some games on Switch cap at 30fps. Jumping from a 165hz display running 165fps to a 60hz display running 30fps is... a bit jarring.

Bloody mishmash!

Central heat and air. I've been at my new place less than a month and every time I had to go back to the old place to pack and clean, I was surprised at how hot the back rooms were, even with A/C and fans on.
