Honestly germans seem to love to dunk on their own infrastructure. Pedestrian, bicycle and public transport infrastructure truly is on another level compared to the US. Why this is the case? I believe its because cities where already in place when the car was invented. In the US they were built for the car as a mode of transport when European cities where built in a way that was a lot more pedestrian friendly.

While the punctuality of DB (German railway operator is a mess) local regional trains can be pretty consistent and overall cities have a well built out priority, since we had to accommodate for so many peoples transport withoutbeingg able to built them as car friendly since the urban centers where already built. while the funding somewhat lacks today, this made public transport also an important thing people look out for.

Bicycle infrastructure can also be hit or miss depending in the region, but generally it is also on the radar of planners and there's plenty of routes, although they're nothing like the Netherlands.

Germans also really like shitting on their own country and being really critical which comes with its own upsides and downsides. For rural areas the car is definitely really important for getting around tho

Although not open source, I use Obsidian since its really extensible, works completely local and has open source extensions. I thought about using Logseq too. I'd never trust Microsoft with my personal notes tho.

If I write job/*in that puts an emphasis on how the jobs default is a male person, with that weird female inclusivity attached. If we just accepted that the gender neutral way is the common masculine form which applies regardless of the gender I think its more beneficial.

The gender star is anything but gender neutral. It highlight the different genders artificially and still makes the female variant of the word the second choice by separating it like this /* This differentiates it from the default general masculine word which is supposed to include everybody and further strengthens the image of the man as the default in a certain job. I'm sorry but I strongly disagree with you on this one.

And for non-Native german speakers, if this sounds confusing that is because it is!

I think it just makes the german language ugly and still keeps the female version of a word as a second choice. Grammatically speaking I believe just common masculine version of a word which is supposed to speak for everyone involved just makes more sense. If we want gender equality we shouldn't highlight the different genders more and make the female version the second choice, but thats just my opinion

Honestly, when a road is closed for a weekend at irregular intervals without a schedule in advance its not reasonable to map it. I contribute to OSM from time to time and thought about it as well but the general consensus is to map regular closures or road closures that go on for like more than a month. OSM is a general purpose map and not for mapping road closures as current data will be used long after now on offline navigation gps devices. We would probably need an open street closure map that aggregates all the databases for road closures and interact with osm. For the major ones I know I've just been blocking what I know locally to not route through it, as I can't be bothered in starting a project like that

But I don't think Magic Earth is that widely used. How precise is it really?

Honestly, I uses organic maps and if its not mapped I just go on the business website. Fuck google, thats why!
