I got a surface pro 3 from goodwill for $99. Been running fedora on it and it runs hot the fan will get loud but honestly it's great for reading manga with komikku or watching movies and stuff. the pro 3 works without the linux-surface kernel so that's a plus even if it does mean it's a little slow. gnome works great on it and it makes me wish all my laptops had a touchscreen. in tablet mode the on screen keyboard leaves a bit to be desired but I hear there's some improvements in gnome 47 and 48 so I'm hopeful

I like it but I'm still not used to it

I guess because they want it to be done correctly but there's plenty of opinions on the correct way to do it

honestly glad you made the thread still cause I just love questions like this to see if I can answer them and if I can't I learn something

well yeah obviously, 3rd party launchers that are optional to use because they serve a purpose. Forced launchers like uplay and origin are the issue. they serve no purpose and offer a worse experience for the user and are forced on your system. Back in my day when a piece of software came with something else that pops up on your screen and runs in the background bogging down your system and collecting data, we considered that a virus.

I think picking an instance is just something people will have to learn and get used to as that's very essential to the fediverse experience.

I personally hate algorithms picking shit for me and that's why I use lemmy and why I used reddit back when it first came out. I search out and pick what content I see on my feed.

I definitely agree with more marketing. It's insane to think there's a lot of people that still use reddit and never even heard of lemmy

honestly just PC gaming in general without 3rd party launchers

Anyone else have this issue? I thought maybe it was just my shitty surface pro 3 but it happens on my T530, T460s, and my desktop. I thought maybe it was an extension I had so I uninstalled them all except ublock. Still happening. For now I've just switched to librewolf and installed all the extensions I had on Firefox. Works fine and doesn't keep my CPU at 100% so problem solved I guess, but I'm still curious if anyone else has this issue?
