in regards to that definition then: yeah, I'd say people are, on the whole, more enlightened than they were a century ago. the scientific method is more thoroughly accepted/baked in at a societal level, and the mass adoption of digital communication facilitates a greater sense of community.... though the resulting communities are often at odds with each other.

it's not really difficult to recycle plastics (depolymerisation) - but it's not cheap to do it at scale and there really isnt any way to profit from it, so it's just not done.

30% vinegar is pretty amazing stuff, I use it on my toilet every 6 months or so. really eats away those organic stains. used it for cleaning metal a few times too, it's a really solid purchase.

no idea about the evaporation.
