Some of the "AI" features have been found to be rebrands of the Pixel features - even down to having the same Google terms of service.

My PDF reader REALLY HAD to add a permanent "AI assistant" button that floats on every single file i open in c/mildlyinfuriating@lemmy.world

I don't think post is talking about Web Environment Integrity. I instead think that it's talking about Manifest v3 as the Chrome web store now blocks Manifest v2 extensions from being submitted - with support expected to be removed from Chrome in 2024.
