I enjoy using Brave Search. But it sucks for images for some reason. I use DDG for images.

Thanks for the TLDR, nice to know the reasons behind the name. And good reasons they are too.

Agree 100%. I always though the name suggested it wasn’t quite a complete game. In fact at first I didn’t think it was a game at all.

Rural Japan.

My kids (2 and 4) can use chopsticks already. Plenty of restaurants around here where you won't see a spoon, fork or knife. (However, it's certainly possible to ask the staff for western cutlery, and in the main cities they're more likely to be prepared for that question)

Oh cool. That could be a good solution! Thanks!

Ah yeh, I tried StartPage for a while. IIRC the image results page wasn’t so great. Not many filter options and so on.

Oh interesting! I’d never heard of le-potato. I’ll check that out, thanks!

Pi-Hole is a really thing but I don’t think my tech skills are quite up to scratch. Plus I think the wife would get ratty if it stopped working while I was out.

I think Ecosia pulls results from Bing if that’s any better? I use them occasionally but generally prefer DDG.

And I feel like that happened really quickly. It doesn’t feel like that long ago that Edge was a nice, nimble browser. Not this bloated naggy beast it is now.

Who’s monopoly are we talking about? If that’s the goal then Firefox + DuckDuckGo would be more sensible right?

I used Blender as a video editor for a while. It worked really well. Very stable and the proxy system made editing on a low powered machine really nimble. I remember there was some project that offered a Blender setup geared specifically towards video editing. Can’t recall the name though. The Blender Velvets?!? That doesn’t sound right …

I also tried Olive many years back and thought it looked great but just wasn’t ready to push out ShotCut and KdenLive from my workflow. Glad they’re still working on it.
