I would expect the pirate faction to intervene in EU parliement? Fediverse servers should be such a tiny fraction of overall EU server costs that this should not be a problem at all...

No idea if this can be secure in any reasonable way, but one way communication based on cheap devices and available frequencies could be quite attractive for activist mass mobilisations, or disaster releasee 🤔

Had the same thought. Being ridden with tungsten balls or just random metal scraps, with normal car roof offering as much protection as a blanket... Chances anyone there survived that are minimal.

Would that factor in the [unknown] costs of that revenue? Running all the servers (incl youtube), offices and staff aint cheap. So more likely some is paying enough to leave 23USD on top of massive costs.
