to be fair it was originally not opt in but it was mastodon users who made an issue about it and forced the opt in version

and bsky has multiple algorithms because individual issues can create lists and feeds tailored to their needs.

it also has a straight forward following feed

i mean that's pretty much already done via third party and endorsed by the bsky team (i can already follow mastodon users on bsky and bsky users on mastodon);

https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed

(shameless self promotion; my bsky account on my mastodon instance: https://tech.lgbt/@netkitten.net@bsky.brid.gy)

probably protecting against the 5g. people might be allergic to it.

except they adopted atproto because it fixed issues with activitypub portability and sharing

i hope tuxedo mask comes down and slaps the copyright holders in the face

it does what it needs to do: i don't think it's necessarily bad.

it's for data not programming and it handles complex structures cleaner than json

trans people: first time?

major overhaul is doing a lot of heavy lifting for something that is effectively one extra swipe down.

it's always been full of hatred; it just had a trust and safety team that attempted to do something about it before elon.

the sooner elon ceases to exist the better

elons gonna rebrand it y next because y do people even bother with it

end your free trial (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

[image// text reading "End your free trial You still have 29 remaining days in your free trial. Once you cancel, you will lose access to the apps in your free trial." with a button that says cancel trial]

did i say mildly infuriating? i meant rage inducing. companies that don't let you cancel recurring billing at the end of the trial who hurt you? stop making me remember to go in at the 28th day to cancel...

yes, it is adobe. shocker.

it's an eyesore to use the app with the down vote icons since my instance disabled them. when you click on them they work but obviously it doesn't actually do anything (the animation works but the down vote isn't registered since they're off on the instance)

it would be nice to hide them altogether like in eternity for lemmy.

thanks :3

google discover feed (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

anyone know what google was thinking when they got rid of google now in favour of the discover feed because i honestly can't understand how you can have the best engineers in the world and make a decision like that

I'm currently using an HP with Windows 11 and WSL but I'd love to switch to Linux, proper - at least just on my development machine. I'm standard LAMP, though I also would use Node and Rails, too.

I use AI and PS (though I'm familiar with Inkspot and Gimp, if WINE isn't perfect for them), Visual Studio Code/Codium, Git, and Chrome/Firefox.

What are some of the best places to look for machines that can work for this? I'd prefer Debian, though I'm fine with Ubuntu. I've looked at Dell but they seem limited with what is available.
