As much as I to be optimistic, I doubt this will pass. So long as Wall Street is still a thing don't expect any sort of regulations. Continue to buy second-hand, OEM unlocked phones on eBay.

I'm completely lost. Can someone fill me on what the hell is going on?

Hackers are the only saving grace in this increasingly dystopian world.

Now, now Bibi. You wouldn't want to be compared to an Austrian art school dropout that orchestrated the death of some your ancestors now would you?

The thing that I love most about Lemmy and the wider Fediverse is the sense of actual community. Many of the users feel like actual people I could meet in real life. It's essentially a digital cafe. Sure as hell not going back to Reddit or those other shit Big Tech sites.

HOLY SHIT! YES! Thank you so much! I thought that drive was a goner. I was on the verge of just buying a new SSD. You just saved me a couple hundred bucks. Thank you once again!

I went ahead tried this but got an error when using makepkg -si:/home/[username]/ntfsprogs-ntfs3/PKGBUILD: line 45: autoreconf: command not found ==> ERROR: A failure occurred in build(). Aborting...

I went to file in question and line 45 says this: autoreconf -vfi

Cruise ships and mega yachts should flat out be banned. They use a ton of energy and dump sewage right into the ocean

Finally, someone who speaks my language

I installed this modpack for GTA 3 but for some reason it gives me a 'insert disc 2' error even though this is on Steam. Thanks in advance.

I might be asking a rhetorical question here but I was curious as to the overall consensus on physical media. Do support it because, unlike streaming, media can't take away what you've payed for? or are you against because it's a waste of money when you can "acquire" it through "alternative means?" I'm also thinking about getting a 4K Blu Ray player for when my wife and I get a new place; preferably one that can also play self hosted media. What do you guys think?

I'm new to advocating for urban planning so I don't know where to start. I know can attend city hall meetings and even email the mayor but I feel like those aren't effective solutions. Any advice? Thanks.

Today was my first day seriously going car free and despite some literal roadblocks ahead I think it's doable. Any tips taking this further? Thanks in advance.

I've tried to install gzdoom both through the terminal and GUI and both times it returns the same error: _==> ERROR: A failure occurred in prepare()._

The line of code before that says this: /var/tmp/pamac-build-[user]/zmusic/PKGBUILD: line 20: patch: command not found

I go to that file, open it in Mousepad and that specific line says this: patch -i "$srcdir"/0001-Use-correct-soundfont-path.patch -p 1

I go to that patch file and only mentions the file path for Ubuntu. I know that this makes me really dumb but I really help with this. Thanks in advance.

I already have the original Steam Deck and I'm considering the OLED model in the future. But I'll consider the Claw if the Linux support is good. What about you guys?

I'm pretty sure it's safe to assume that many of you reading this are long time viewers of the Youtube channels Not Just Bikes, Climate Town and probably Adam Something. All three of these channels have mentioned in their videos that car companies lobbied governments and pressured urban planners to create infrastructure suited for cars. So if car companies can throw money at politicians to get legislation passed that suit their needs why can't bike companies counteract by playing at their own game? Hell, shoe companies could 'counter-lobby' as well. Nike, Adidas, New Balance, etc. would benefit greatly from walkable and bikeable cities. So why don't bike companies like Trek, GT and Tern lobby governments to make cities more bikable? They could ask for subsidies so they can open official shops in city centers and with it the promise of employment. I'm pretty there are flaw this approach so I would like to know your thoughts on the matter. Thanks in advance!

This might be the wrong community to ask this but I'll give it my shot. I already own a very good Trek bike but it's an urban commuter. I want something that handle dirt and country roads just as good as a Jeep or Land Cruiser. I know mountain bikes are best suited for off-road scenarios but I've only ever used urban bikes and BMXs. Is there a brand that is revered by mountain bike enthusiasts in the same way that Jeep is to car guys? Thanks in advance.
