Yes, when they’re older. I’d rather be the “dad, can you find this for me?” guy, and then when they’re older and start talking about wanting to set up their own Plex server or something I’ll show them how to do it, if they even want to. I would be perfectly happy being the perma media pirate for my family.

I honestly have no idea how much cable costs where I live and it’s not for a lack of trying. I’ve tried to look but it’s literally not possible to look on mediacom’s website to get cable prices unless I add a cable package to my internet plan. My only other option is to call them, and their entire support is outsourced and it’s a toss up on whether I get someone who speaks English or not. One time the call center person spoke so little English that they had to transfer me to someone else.

I have a 2020 rav4 and it is only valued at $3k less than what I paid for it brand new. This isn’t a reality anymore.

I don’t understand how they can do this with iPhone when Apple requires all apps to prompt with the option to deny tracking?

Yeah, I bought an 800 couch last year from a place that was allegedly liquidating and it is GARBAGE quality. It’s already falling apart, the staples were noticeable the day we got it, the springs are poor quality, and the frame is cheap. I bought a couch that was easily 20 years old when I bought it and it lasted another three years before having to replace it, and now I’m going to have to replace this couch I bought BRAND NEW after a year.

Same. We have an Ashley furniture and an Ashley furniture outlet that are perpetually liquidating their stock

[-] Riyria@sopuli.xyz 5 points 11 months ago

There’s no way it’s not. Either that or there is some kind of tax loophole they’re able to take advantage of that lets them write all of the furniture off at a loss every year despite turning a profit.

I genuinely fucking hate “local” furniture stores. That industry seems slimier than car sales honestly. Sell dog shit quality products for hundreds to thousands of dollars and then are allowed to act like they are going out of business constantly. There are always furniture stores around me having “liquidation sales” and “going out of business sales” and literally none of them have ever gone out of business. If anything, they usually raise their prices before their next sale.

I don’t know about that. I think the more appropriate stance is that it’s almost impossible to have people appropriately prosecuted when they do violate the law. Federal courts are afraid to be the court that starts the chain reaction of more appropriately defining how violation of the law and prosecution should work.

We don’t have those laws in the form of legislation necessarily in the US but we do have bars on what is covered by the first amendment according to case law.

The United States. Speech that is used to incite violence, commit fraud, or is perceived to be a true threat are not protected under the first amendment.

Any time I’ve switched to android over the years that little switch is one of the biggest, yet smallest features on the iPhone that I end up really missing. It is so convenient, and now that it’s reprogrammable with different taps it will be even better.
