Yes!

Holy cow haha. I "bought" so much music there. They got a ton of obscure gypsy brass band stuff for me when I asked too (Fanfare Ciocarlia)

Memory unlocked.

I definitely know what you're talking about (dispite not remembering the name of it) but they had everything. And if they didn't, you could request it and they'd find it.

I miss that site now

This is the nicest way someone's put it. I've tried to switch to Linux three or four times but until there is a distro that makes it plug and play like Windows or mac its going to be a tough sell. I consider myself tech savvy enough (I can google things, and for goodness sake at the bare minimum I can cut and paste into the terminal) but the barrier for getting Linux to work is too high right now for a very large part of the population.

I have W10 computer running the arrs and my plex server that I'm going to have to figure out as I can't get W11 on it.

I want to do it so bad!.... but I think I'll probably just end up getting a new, used computer that can run W11

This is the craziest thing to me...

I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. I put my boots or shoes on at the door before I go out, and I take them off when I get home. If I get cold feet, I may put on slippers.

Inside the house, I'm bare foot or in socks. If I take the trash out and it's nice, I go out barefoot. If it's snowy or frigid cold (I'll leave the Winnipeg weather up to you for a fun google) I put on my boots.

I don't know anyone who wears shoes indoors unless they are elderly and need the support. It's a sign of middle age / senior age living here.

I use this on my Chromecast. It's far prettier than the monstrosity that is that Google Chromecast home screen

Any info on getting content from Hoopla or Kanopy? I have a library membership but it is limited in use.

I installed a few different distros, landed on Cinnamon Mint. I'm not a tech dummy, but I feel I'm in over my head.

I installed Docker in the terminal (two things I'm not familiar with) but I can't find it anywhere. Googled some stuff, tried to run stuff, and... I dunno.

I'm TRYING to learn docker so I can set up audiobookshelf and Sonarr with Sabnzbd.

Once it's installed in the terminal, how the hell do I find docker so I can start playing with it?

Is there a Linux for people who are deeply entrenched in how Windows works? I'm not above googling command lines that I can copy and paste but I've spent HOURS trying to figure this out and have gotten no where...

Thanks! Sorry if this is the wrong place for this

EDIT : holy moly. I posted this and went to bed. Didn't quite realize the hornets nest I was going to kick. THANK YOU to everyone who has and is about to comment. It tells you how much traction I usually get because I usually answer every response on lemmy and the former. For this one I don't think I'll be able to do it.

I've got a few little ones so time to sit and work on this is tough (thus 5h last night after they were in bed) but I'm going to start picking at all your suggestions (and anyone else who contributes as well)

Thank you so much everyone! I think windows has taught me to be very visually reliant and yelling into the abyss that is the terminal is a whole different beast - but I'm willing to give it a go!

Thank you. I am seriously considering this instead as I think I minimum spend around $40usd buying 4tb blocks on sale. If I forget to grab during a sale, that bumps to $45 per tb

Hello all,

I'm a huge amateur when it comes to this stuff (I had a guy hold my hand on the phone and walk me through this) but I use Newsgroupdirect and buy blocks when they go on sale.

Is there a better group to do this from (or cheaper). I'm happy here but I saw an article that had some different places listed and it got me thinking.

Which group do you use?

Windows 10 (lemmy.ca)

I bought a computer off Kijiji that was from someone who builds them for cheap. I bought it for a plex server.

I recently did a hard drive check, and the hd is getting spotty.

I did a check for windows license and it says it's "retail" with a partial key. I was thinking of buying a new SSD to put in but how do I get a windows key now?

I'm somewhat computer minded but this one I've never dealt with. (I also have no interest in installing Linux right now)

Thanks!

Hello!

I was wanting to move my washing machine and dry to a different part of the laundry room. It's all open ceiling so my thought was to run the cold/hot/drain hoses up the wall about 3ft, then across the ceiling about 5ft and then down another 3 ft to the sink to drain (or in the case of the taps, get the hot and cold)

I was going to use pex to get the water to where it needs to be.

Is this too far? Will the washer still be able to drain at that length? Can it drain up like that first?

Thanks!

I downloaded an apk from mobilism and before I install it, how do I go about ensuring it's not malware or an unsafe app? I'm all for buying apps but I hate all these subscriptions...

Particularly kids shows. I've found yggtorrents but it takes forever to seed. There's a season of TV I want to get for my kids but it's over the ratio I have haha.

I'm not concerned with paying for a private tracker so long as they're trusted. I'd prefer a Usenet solution if that's possible.
