Tory governments regularly ignore expert advice, even when they have commissioned that advice. Look into immigration and drugs policy in the UK and you will find the government often does the opposite of what experts advise them to do. It's one of the ways you know they have an agenda other than "doing the right thing" or even "doing what is best for the country".

Has anybody considered that Musk could be engaging in a Trading Places style billionaire competition, wherein the players try and trash their multi-billion dollar tech company faster than the others?
Some drama is just down to their politics (authoritarian Marxist Leninist in the main), and some relating to their moderation based on politics (bans for users posting articles critical of China, allegedly).
