Probably different depending on region. Our engagement rings were slate white gold and platinum. When we picked out her wedding ring we first went to jewelers. Everything there was kinda ugly. Found a gorgeous diamond ring from the 1930s, real elegant and you could see the craftsmanship in every little detail. And I got it for 400€. Then took it to a jeweler to size it and engrave it.

I think it's because it's not properly seared. Probably due to not drying It off before putting it in the pan. And also probably too low heat in the pan. Otherwise it sounds nice
