It's both. The western economy is in a slump, people are getting disillusioned and that creates the perfect environment for populist ideas like Fascism to pop-up. The right has wisely noticed the power of social media and they've been flooding the web with propaganda, couple that with bad-faith actors like Russia taking advantage of the situation and you've got yourself a bunch of young, gullible people with no positive outlook for the future being dragged into all sorts of extremism with false promises of change for the better. Not to mention all the boomers coming out of their closets as full-on fascists now that the right has been extremely vocal in favor of said views.

Libertarianism is a right-wing ideology though, it's pro corporate deregulation and lasseiz-faire capitalism. If you're pro individual freedom, but opposed to right-wing ideas then the closest thing you can be is an Anarchist.

Ok, but there isn't anything in the Brazilian body of law that says social media needs to have legal representation in the country to be functional, otherwise TikTok, Reddit and even Lemmy would've been blocked long ago, that's the argument being made. That said, nothing like this has ever happened before, so maybe this could serve as a precedent for a new series of legislations.

Honestly, I have mixed feelings on this. On the one hand, that's the government reaching waaaay beyond what it should without any real laws to back it up, on the other hand, fuck Musk and if this is what it takes to keep gullible people off nazifascist misinformation and propaganda then 🤷‍♂️.

I'm guessing they mean regional subsidiaries, Brazil is big, but not that big.

Pains me to no end that the only somewhat decent local RSS reader available for desktop nowadays is Thunderbird. All I want is a simple, no-frills attached local RSS reader that doesn't make me run a whole server service just to fetch a feed.

They're actually called Castanha do Pará (Pará Nuts), but whatever.

Pile of shit is putting it lightly. At least it had some cool fire effects for its time.

Disregarding the absolutely unplayable and broken, I think it's a toss up between the 2008 Alone in the Dark or Final Fantasy 15. I'm more inclined towards the latter because I haven't played the former since release. It's just a godawful RPG, if you can even call it that, the game basically plays itself, has no depth whatsoever, the open-world is meaningless and empty of anything interesting. Not to mention the story is both dogshit and a confusing mess nonsensically split between different DLCs, movies and god knows what else. Definitely the worst big budget RPG (again, if you can even call it that) I've played so far, it's borderline insulting. The worst of it all? It was my first Final Fantasy and it was so bad it killed any interest I had in the series.

Conservative Sunni Islam's attitude towards women basically boils down to men needing to see as little as possible of them, lest they become uncontrollably rapey.

I find that so utterly bizarre, like, you can't control your sexual impulses like a normal person does unless every woman in your field of vision is dressed like a Halloween ghost?

I think that's more to do with the writing quality than anything, really. As you've said, there's Shonen stuff that isn't just generic Highschool drama stuff, like HxH and JJK as previously mentioned, but I tend to enjoy Seinen more than the average Shonen because the themes and settings are more relatable to me as an adult.

~~And I'm not going to lie, I kind of have a guilty pleasure for some edgy stuff every now and again.~~
