In the public domain software world I still mostly only see PDOS and various TempleOS related projects and forks

That's an unfortunate acronym

Really?

I find it useful as a file server.

Course, you need a special driver for Linux to access the pdofile service.

I just say it as P-DOS.

I’m guessing somehow you’re pronouncing it as paedo.

that's how it's pronounced, and is apparent probably to those familiar with DOS, although to be fair I have recently thought of the alternative pronunciation suggested by the OP of this comment chain

This could be suggested as an alternative name

So, practically/functionally speaking, how is this different from FreeDOS, and why should I use this instead of FreeDOS?

mostly just software licensing versus FreeDOS and much less functionality (but the focus has been on squaring away basics, anyone could probably add a lot more public domain programs on from this point forward, idk what fundamentals still need to be fixed)

well tbh not many seem to know of this project so I'm just posting about the project in general (which is presumably new to most people seeing it) but the vlogs are newer this year as well since I last checked the project
