Like someone pointed out in the other thread:

Giant billion dollar corporations patent anything they can think of. Even if they never plan to do it, the patent means they make money if someone else is dumb enough to try it.

I can't see Ford doing this, but someone like Tesla would, and Ford would make money off that now. If people aren't insanely pissed, then maybe Ford will implement down the road too.

I hope that's the end result. GM was been busted for selling telemetry to data brokers and that data ended up in the hands of insurance companies causing rates to go up.

While not the same thing or the same company, at this point I have trust issues.
