Twitter is where all drama happens.

It doesn't matter that some people will register an account on Threads and even use it as their primary platform.

They will still come to Twitter to see what "them" are doing.

What's twitter!? Do you mean X? 😉

[-] zikk_transport2@lemmy.world 18 points 1 year ago

X what? Xvideos? Xxx something? What's x? Ex? Ex Twitter? I am out of the loop. Please explain. /s

Ex, Exx and Exxy

[-] olorin99@kbin.social 0 points 1 year ago

Musky boi changed twitters name to x.

[-] Umbra@kbin.social -1 points 1 year ago

X

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

[-] Ranessin@feddit.de 12 points 1 year ago

X? The kiddie porn platform?

[-] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 1 year ago

Oh no, that was a mistake. The guy said he didn't and Elon said nobody saw it and besides that wouldn't happen on such an awesome platform. /s

[-] WarmSoda@lemm.ee 0 points 1 year ago

I believe Elon didn't see it. Why else would he want to keep the account up? So he could go look at the pics.

[-] mrbubblesort@kbin.social 8 points 1 year ago

I thought it was "ten"

[-] Xanthobilly@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

I’m actually surprised no one has pointed out the design flaw in the logo. It looks like a close window x button on browsers, especially iOS Safari. I keep wanting to close out of the window by clicking on it instead of the smaller other x.

[-] everythingsucks@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

It’s been pointed out. Lots.

You basically asked why no one mentioned it looks like a close icon and this person informed you that it had been mentioned a lot. What are you saying thanks with a question mark as if what you brought up wasn't answered?

[-] mrmanager@lemmy.today 5 points 1 year ago

Elon is a brilliant man isn't he.

[-] I_Miss_Daniel@kbin.social 5 points 1 year ago

The website that used to be a hamster.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Hamster dance?

[-] jesterraiin@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago

Yeah. I meant "the artist formerly known as Prince". 😎

[-] housepanther@lemmy.goblackcat.com 25 points 1 year ago

I am not surprised. A good deal of it was probably driven by fear of missing out.

[-] RedWeasel@lemmy.world 19 points 1 year ago

I can imagine that a bunch of those are astroturfing usernames. Businesses, celebrities and the like have a big deal of value in their online identity.

[-] MargotRobbie@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

Impersonating celebrities? On the Internet? Who would do such a thing?

[-] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 1 year ago

Well, I would, but not you. I'll say it again: You were great in that thing!

[-] MargotRobbie@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

You are going to have to be more specific, because I'm great in everything. 😊

[-] s0q@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

On general, yes, however threads uses your Instagram username. I think it's just initial excitement to try something new and people getting on the anti - X / twitter / Elon train and then realising that the network effect has way more pull

[-] HurlingDurling@lemm.ee 15 points 1 year ago

Maybe because they didn't "sign-up". I read somewhere that Meta just created accounts for all Instagram users automatically

[-] HeavenAndHell@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago

Not defending meta, but that wouldn’t add up with the amount of activity that immediately followed

[-] zaph@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

They announced that all Instagram users had a shadow account. I can't remember if they were saying it was a mistake or not but it did happen.

[-] stooth64@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

I believe Instagram usernames are reserved on Threads to ensure people can keep the same handle on both networks, but the users aren’t automatically signed up with a profile.

[-] djquadratic@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago

even if that were true - it wouldn't make sense. That would would a) create a huge disparity between signups and DAU b) they did make the signup process very frictionless which would explain the signups better and c) I believe it threads signups were in the millions whereas Instagram has over 1B accounts

[-] livedeified@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

it seemed like turning on an additional function for Instagram to me. it's still bloated with the same junk as you'd expect.

[-] AnonymousLlama@kbin.social 14 points 1 year ago

Lots of things come in peaks and troughs. They've still got a pretty impressive userbase considering they only just started.
