What fucks me up is the fish that can't draw water through their gills manually and can only survive by constantly being in motion
Imagine we couldn't actively breathe but instead got all out air by running into the air to force it into your lungs
Sounds terrifying, how do they sleep?
Their brains evolved to put different parts of itself to sleep at a time.
Iirc sharks put one half of their brain to sleep at a time. Though that might be dolphins I honestly don't remember.
Hell it might even be both my brain is a tangled ball of yarn lmao
I'm not an ichtyologist, but iirc most fish can breath without moving. Some sharks must move to breath, but plenty of them don't have to, i.e. the wobbegongs
