I literally skip SO results now. Most of them are so out of date it's often better to find an article or ask chatgpt

Hey if you're like me and working on a project from the 90s the outdated info is great! I found a fucking Visual Basic 5 runtime in this project.

Everybody knows that VB versions start at 6, like there's no Xbox 2

[-] shiftymccool@lemm.ee 5 points 11 months ago

Didn't VB end at 6? Seems like that was the last version before the whole .NET nonsense.

I do indeed. But at least my one is vb6 haha

But C# is the one SO seems gives bad results for.

Tbf ChatGPT isn’t current either with its 2021 cut off date

[-] scorpionix@feddit.de 9 points 11 months ago

ChatGPT has been granted access to the internet. So it should give more up-to-date info in the near future.

Or turn into Ultron.

[-] magic_lobster_party@kbin.social 12 points 11 months ago

Too late. The entire web is infested with garbage GPT generated articles with outdated or false information.

[-] fer0n@lemm.ee 3 points 11 months ago

Which version? The free 3.5 I’m using isn’t (at least for me)

[-] Kelo@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

I assume gpt 4, with internet access plugins

[-] Grimy@lemmy.world 0 points 11 months ago

I'm pretty sure that plugin was disabled. Also, from using Bing, it just reads like the first two links so it really wasn't that good.

[-] isolatedscotch@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 11 months ago

the browse feature was restored recently

I, for one, welcome our new AI overlords.

[-] Chariotwheel@kbin.social 7 points 11 months ago

Just tell google to only show results from the past year.

[-] Awkwardparticle@artemis.camp 2 points 11 months ago

You are talking like you can get anything out of Google these days. I seriously am using Bing at work. Everyone laugh but do you know who does have their first page full of paid links? This guy.

Did you miss a "not" in there somewhere?
