This is an interesting take considering vendors regularly do sell addons related to sms, blocking, etc
Sms is a basic SOC. They don't degrade it just to try and sell you a new phone.
I mean, yeah you're right. We're not talking about plans though. It doesn't matter anyways, that's not what OPs issue is.
