@guitars Hi everyone. What do y'all think of this? Is 'Grote' a dirty word? I mean, it's probably the worst name for a guitar company ever. Would you ever own one?

The name on the headstock doesn't mean anything. It's all about the setup, the feel of the neck in your hand, and your preferred electronics/aesthetics.

Just IMO, of course. There's definitely a contingent of the community that think brand names matter for the same reason as people who think fashion brands matter: status symbols. From my perspective it's all about playability, functionality, and sound, but I like to spend my time playing my guitars, not judging people for theirs.

@entropicdrift I'm very interested in what makes a guitar playable. This Grote is very playable. I didn't think it would be because of the extreme neck angle and because some Grotes are built by places that don't care about their work, and it was extremely cheap. But no, it just has a towering bridge, and it plays better than the Epiphone it copies, which I also have. I may have lucked out.
